SINTEF Ocean is a private, independent research organization with about 400 employees, which specialize in maritime technology and biomarine research. Our core belief is that combining model and full-scale experimental testing with theoretical research and numerical simulation tools is the best formula to support the technology development in maritime industry, and this is also how we approach the efforts to re-introduce wind propulsion in commercial shipping.

Through our R&D projects and advisory services on wind propulsion we conduct feasibility studies, design analyses and optimization, laboratory testing and verification, and finally sea trials and continous monitoring. Our clients and collaborators are ship designers, yards, technology providers, ship owners and authorities.
