Our ambition is for it to be owned by a host of shipowners wishing to accelerate the transition of maritime transport. Windcoop is structured as a cooperative, and offers everyone (individuals, companies and communities) the opportunity to become a member in order to offer a new shipping company model. This progressive project will allow.
WISAMO -Wing Sail Mobility- is an innovation from Michelin Group aiming at contributing to shipping decarbonization, and improving merchant ships environmental footprint thanks to a wind propulsion solution. WISAMO system is deveveloped by Michelin and is actually a large inflatable wingsail, 100% retractable and automated, using free and universal wind power to propel any kind of ships -new built or retrofit ones. The wingsail principle is to be inflated with low pression thanks to small fans, generating very little mechanical stress on the textile. The wingsail is automated et it can be deployed or fully lowered thanks to its telescopic mast, that is a security guarantee in case of heavy weather conditions or to facilitate the ship mobility -for instance when passing under bridges or during (un)loading operations. WISAMO is an easy-to-use and fully autonomous system, particularly efficient upwind -the most common situation for maritime routesbut also efficient on a large wind spectrum.
